Sales staff value respect more than big bucks

People looking for sales jobs can expect to start on a basic wage of around £30,000 and more than £70,000 if they consistently hit their targets and make big sales, according to an expert.

Rob Scott, managing director of sales recruiter Aaron Wallis, told the London Evening Standard that basic salaries can be boosted by commission and he thinks most staff want a high basic, with about a fifth to a third extra if they hit their targets.

He said: "The going salary rate for field sales executives is around £28,000 basic and, if they hit their targets, it's typically £40,000 … some top performers are on a basic of £70,000 with on-target earnings of over £200,000."

A recent survey by Aaron Wallis also showed that respect among peers and bosses is a bigger motivator than status or material wealth.

Mr Scott recently said that people are beginning to become optimistic about the state of the economy and are starting to spend money on the high street.

Aaron Wallis have a technical sales division with experienced engineering, industrial and manufacturing recruitment consultants. For industrial sales recruitment solutions Aaron Wallis offer employers a unique recruitment service backed by a 52 week rebate period.
